What is Vision?

Definitions

Google: the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.

Merriam Webster: the ability to see;  sight or eyesight; something that you imagine; a picture that you see in your mind;  something that you see or dream especially as part of a religious or supernatural experience.

Biblical: A vision is something seen in a dream, trance, or religious ecstasy, especially a supernatural appearance that usually conveys a revelation.

Why do you need one?

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV): Without vision, people perish.
Proverbs 29:18 (NIV): Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint.

Your vision is your most important dream or mental picture. It can also be a set of dreams and long-term goals. A vision defines the optimal desired future state; it tells of what you would like to achieve over a longer time. Vision can be your personal “why” or the organization’s internal purpose of existence.

4 Things God will do when giving you a Vision…

*Vision (for our purposes) to mean “a specific goal or outcome God wants you to pursue for the future that is not yet fully realized in your present.”

1. When God Wants You to Pursue a Specific Vision for Your Life, He Will Give You an Unshakeable Desire to Work Towards That Goal No Matter How Many Setbacks Occur.

2. When God Is Giving You a Vision for the Future He Wants for You, He Will Open the Doors that Are Outside of Your Control.

3. God Will Show You How to Apply Specific Bible Verses to Your Life as a Way of Building Towards a Specific Future He Is Calling You to Pursue.

4. When God Is Giving You a Vision for the Future He Wants for You, He Will Help You Know What Sacrifices You Need to Make and Then He Will Help You Make Them.

“Tomorrow’s freedom always starts with today’s surrender. If you want God to fill your hands with blessings tomorrow, you must learn to open your hands in submission today.”  – excerpted from Mark Ballenger’s article entitled “4 Things that will happen when God is giving you a Vision”.

There is nothing like the security, clarity and confidence that comes from walking with God and following His plan WHILE living out YOUR Vision.
