Disclaimer: Heads up! The following is a bit of a rant. Read on at your own risk.
If you have been following our series, you realize that so many of the first 5 mistakes that prevent women from living their visions have to do with your belief or rather lack of belief in self.
Well, today I want to talk about a mistake that I hear women make ALLLLLLLL the time and this one is a doozy! Yup, we are going there. We are going to talk about money. Cause I am so heartsick when I hear incredibly capable women tell me they can’t afford to invest in themselves, their future and their God-given abilities to make their lives more fulfilling and this world better. 😞
If this is yours, then this one is going to keep you stuck and shut down forever because it is rooted in a flawed mindset and lack of skillset about money and assets. It is rooted in misinformation and teachings or lack thereof, you may have grown up with.
I mean…think about it:
- How many personal finance classes were you required to take (or even offered) in school?
- How many financially savvy mentors did you have growing up that sat with you and taught you?
- Do you realize that women still only make $0.83 to a man’s $1?
- And do you realize, as a woman, statistics are in your favor – you’ll live longer with less money to invest to support yourself?
- And have you thought about how isolated you are when it comes to really dealing with your ignorance about money and finances?
If it’s too uncomfortable to talk about it because you have shame or guilt or it’s “icky”, “unspiritual”, “crass”, “not ladylike” or just “not what you are about” or whatever negative label you want to put on it – then you will remain stuck. But even if this is not what you are about, you still need money to live and grow a vision, even if it’s a non-profit in this world. What a conundrum you are in if you are saying you can’t afford to live your vision but you don’t want to learn about money.
But wherever this mistake has come from – if you are a woman that knows she is made for more but is saying to yourself or allowing someone else to convince you that you can’t afford it – I want to challenge your thinking BIG TIME!
Because thoughts become things and words become flesh. (Heard that before, haven’t you?) So if you are thinking and saying those things, you will be proven right. And “I can’t afford” it in this case, is just not something I want to be right about.
A little secret I learned from Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and millionaire entrepreneur who has made it his mission to financially educate people is that he never says to himself… “I can’t afford it, but rather HOW can I afford it?” when he sees an opportunity that he wants to participate in.
That little shift in the way he speaks to himself is significant and has had a significant impact on his life and how he helps others, $80mil (his net worth currently) worth of significance.
What difference would that shift make for you?
This has become such a big deal for me, in terms of empowering the women I work with, that I have created a whole segment of Live Your Vision 4 dedicated to Your Money Mind: Allowing your Vision to Live that will be worth the price of the course (if that were the only thing I was teaching), which I am not of course.
We are going to be going thru your money story and identifying your limiting beliefs. We are going to be reframing those thoughts to serve you, and we are going to be doing a money cleanse and learning how to be effective and savvy women money managers. This is a must if visions are going to live.
So what are you waiting for? If this has been your mistake, then I want to challenge you to reframe your ‘I can’t afford it’ today with how can I afford it?
And if you are not sure where to begin then let’s talk because any way you cut it, you cannot afford NOT to afford it. 😊
And let’s add this one to the debunked mistaken thoughts list:
Mistake #1: It’s only for a select few.
Mistake #2: I may have to I leave behind those I love.
Mistake #3: It’s not in the cards for me.
Mistake #4: I have to become someone I’m not.
Mistake #5: There is nothing special about me.
Mistake #6: I can’t afford it.
Let’s rock this one!
To all the abundance and goodness your vision will bring.
