You may be asking yourself, “Why in the world is she writing about setting up 2021 when there are still several months to go and at this point, all I can do is keep my head above water in these never-ending crazy times?”
For just that reason.
At this point, we have all had to stretch and grow and change the way we do things. The conversations I’m having about 2020 are starting to turn to see the blessings the pandemic afforded like…
Time to be still and connect with God, my spouse, and kids and even accomplish some home improvement and personal projects I’ve been wanting to tackle.
You may have even realized that there is no going back now. It really is about evolving and changing WITH the future that is always so uncertain, but really trusting that God is in control in spite of who’s in office and what your local county guidelines dictate is the call of the new year.
So how do we get more grounded and truly settled about our own future?
By first getting very clear on who God created us to be. Even Jesus had to work out his own identity by understanding his own unique abilities, passions, interests, experiences and family upbringing in the context of the times. Then his pathway was revealed.
That is exactly what we are doing here: helping women understand more deeply who they were created to be and ultimately their unique identity so that they can clearly see their way forward.
Times like this only serve to reveal whether we are clear in who we are or NOT. If you have based your identity on a role you play, (i.e. a job, or a title etc.) then you may have become unsettled in this time. But if your identity is clear and rooted in your uniqueness as God has designed you, then you will still be able to march forward in a grounded and settled way. And that is how I intend to face the future, knowing who I am and what unique value I bring (aka clear on my identity and therefore my vocation or calling for my next chapter). That brings peace to me about my future since it is not dependent on external forces I have no control over.
I urge you to do this work if you have not already. It really is so grounding and we, as women need to be grounded. As I always say, God has given us the great privilege to be the “thermostats in our own homes, not the thermometers. We set the emotional temperature, not just measure it.”
To getting grounded & settled and ready for whatever 2021 brings.
