Today is the day we in the U.S. exercise our power to choose.  And regardless of where we stand, the very fact we CAN choose is a gift. Choices really do change things.

26 years ago, I chose to reconcile my relationship with my husband and God through His almighty grace first of all, gave me THAT gift, and honored my choice. I will live my life in gratitude for His grace forever in that moment.

Have you given much thought to the life changing choices you’ve made over the years?

Have you realized what a gift it is that we even have choices?

Have you thought about the consequences of not choosing what you have?

My two children know their very existence has to do with the gift of choice I was given and exercised 26 years ago.

That is what I wanted to focus on today…the power of choice.  I can sometimes overlook and undervalue how absolutely profound that is, and it is not until that option is taken away from me that I realize how blessed I am to have it.

This past week, we had a tropical storm that took out our power, internet, and phone lines…that frustrated feeling of “powerlessness” (pun intended) when I flicked a switch or tried to connect with someone digitally really reminded me of how much I have normally and that I need to choose wisely how to view and use my resources.

The more I appreciate the gift of choice, the more I use it wisely.

Do you realize you have the opportunity to use your life in whatever way YOU see fit?  You may not really have felt like you have had choices (beware of the victim mindset) but I assure you, you do. What a gift!

Even when the power went out this past week, we had choices to go somewhere that did have power, like a hotel.  I may not like the inconvenience but I still had choices which I need to recognize as a gift.  I am not powerless…ever. God has given me gifts and resources and if I take the time to discover, develop and distribute them, I will not only be fulfilled and serve others, I will be empowered.

How will you exercise the choice to use or hide YOUR gifts?

It has been incredible having conversations with so many talented women in my LYV Mastermind that have chosen (in the past) to hide their lights and talents intentionally. They admitted to opting out of opportunities presented to them previously that were directly related to their gifts. WOW the power of choice to change the direction of one life and thus thousands of others. And yet now they are choosing differently. They are choosing to explore their fears, and overcome them to shine brightly for others and discover what God wants to use them for. It is so so exciting to watch these spectacular women come alive and start to light up their homes, work and relationships in new ways.  I am excited to see what difference their choices will make because they realized they have them.

What choice could you exercise to shine more brightly today?
