Ever wonder why you just can’t seem to change certain things about yourself?
Whether it’s your weight, your finances, a professional ceiling, your relationship with God seems robotic, or romantically, you just seem to find yourself in the same place over and over again. (And it’s not where you would like to be.)
We all have those “stubborn” areas of life that plague us.
I get it.
But what if the true secret to change was not what you thought it was?
Something I’ve discovered over the past 5+ years is that when we…
🔸 Pause the judgment of self
🔸 Get in touch with how beautifully we are made and how loved we are
🔸 Surrender to the fact that nothing can taint that beauty or love
We can then, and only then, give serious attention without fear to areas we need to change and change them permanently.
If shame, guilt, fear of consequences, or how hard this is to enter the picture, then effective change will be short-lived.
So the surprising key is you have to be in touch enough with God’s view of you…that when He sees your name, He sees absolute beauty, and you are settled into that identity of love and beauty. That He has given you what you need to carry out what you have in your life with grace and ease. There is no fear of criticism or blame or overwhelm or responsibility. You are so secure in who you are that facing what shortcomings you have is not scary or threatening. And yet, at the same time, you do not blow them off with some mistaken view of grace that dismisses things that will prevent you from being your best, resigning to a form of faithlessness saying, “Oh well.”
No more excuses are made and no more shame endured, just powerful personal conviction propelling you to leave behind behaviors when pointed out to you that do not serve the greater good. Things like worry, anxiety, insecurity, half-truths, vanity, overeating, stubbornness, judgmentalism, self-pity, resentments, and victimhood – you now realize do not serve the greater good and these ways become ineffective, unproductive, and unacceptable in your mind.
Truly, once you get in touch with how wonderfully and beautifully made you are and how absolutely loved and treasured you are, these self-sabotaging behaviors lose their appeal and necessity.
I no longer want to punish my body with overeating and lack of proper self-care.
I no longer want to exhaust my mind with worry, anxiety, and harsh judgment.
I no longer see any use in feeling sorry for myself or resentment or envy.
All these things somehow now seem like the waste of energy and time and resources that they are.
Are you surprised?
The way to change things you do not like about yourself is actually to see how beautifully made you are.
For then, and only then, will you be able to look those weaknesses square in the eye, not be crushed by them, and yet take them seriously enough to use your arsenal of strengths and support to see them change, because there is now the right reason and right perspective.
Now that is an irony, huh?
Yes, it takes work.
Yes, it takes help.
Yes, it takes some time.
Yes, you may need to invest.
But think about it…how much time, energy, and opportunity is available when those pesky areas of change no longer dog you?
Women constantly say to me…I wish I had known this 20 years ago.
Come join us. Come see how beautiful YOU are and watch if you too don’t see those stubborn, stuck areas you don’t like about you melt away.
To a new view of YOU
