As crazy as this sounds, I have found I sometimes struggle to handle the blessings.
When what I have prayed for arrives, I have found myself overthinking and sometimes overwhelmed, on occasion suspicious and questioning…
“If I step through this door, what would that mean to me and those I love?”
“What if I can’t really handle this new_________?” (opportunity, position, relationship, business, success, closeness, impact, abundance, etc?)
Now, these are not things I spend a lot of conscious time on, but only come up WHEN the blessings arrive.
And guess what I have found…I am not the only one.
Women I work with are so used to being responsible and seeing to it that everyone else’s dreams come true and needs are met, that when it comes to embracing their own, it is such a foreign feeling that some freeze on the trigger and go back to what they are comfortable with even though they are not happy there.
That to me is the fulfillment of Jeremiah 17:5-8.
Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength, and whose heart turns away from the Lord. She will be like a bush in the wasteland and: she will not even see prosperity when it comes. She will dwell in parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. But blessed is she who trusts in the Lord whose confidence is in HIM…and never fails to bear fruit.
I get it. I genuinely feel my human limitations and desire for familiarity aka comfort the older I get…mostly in the way that I think these days.
And the irony of what we are doing is that stepping out to Live YOUR Vision is indeed a faith test and up-leveling. It requires a deep surrender which involves encountering the grandeur of God and His deep love for YOU.
If you are finding yourself UNABLE to take that next step to either invest in you to find out who and how magnificent God has made you and to claim the pathway that could be yours, then I propose you are not in touch enough with the enormous love God has for you. LYV is a journey to understanding a deep personal knowing (experientially) of the love God has for you. For only through that are you going to find the freedom to abandon the kingdom of self and surrender to ALL God has for you, including the blessings.
So crazy, but I have found that the “good” opportunities test us every bit as much as the challenging.
I am praying for YOU, to be able to see and seize the God-ordained opportunities in your life.
We are having enough challenges in the world right now.
Let’s win the war within.
