Fear is probably the number one reason more women I know don’t pursue their dreams and live their own visions that go one to make a significant difference in the world.
Fear of what others might think
Fear of some wasting time and money
Fear of becoming selfish when there are so many other needs
Fear of success and how that may change their lives
But fear of failure is by far the biggest.
All those are, in fact, very real fears that will need to be contended with at some point. But how?
Yes… Prayer
Yes… Affirmations
Yes… Visualization
Yes… Increasing your knowledge base
Yes… Getting support
But as far as a cure for the fear of failure goes, it is not what you might think. The cure for failure is not success.
A cure for the fear of failure is multiple small, mini or micro failures along the way to build up your ‘immune’ system, so that when failure comes, which it must – when you step into new territory, you will then be so much stronger and able to handle it.
Small failures along the way build your tolerance and immunity for them just like a flu shot does by introducing small amounts of antigens into the body which then stimulate your body to produce antibodies that build its resistance and therefore reduce illness and downtime.
Similarly, micro failures along the way do the same – introducing small amounts of failure into your world so that you build up your ability to tolerate it, learn from it and even get stronger from it. So no need to fear failure. It does not have to be something that crushes you or that you even need to fear at all, but welcome all the benefits that come from it.
So go ahead, step out, take some chances and invite a few micro failures in, so that you can start to build your failure ‘immunity’ then not only will you be stronger but all those failures will be such useful pieces of data to learn from and gain valuable knowledge, build your confidence and get busy building your vision. Cause YOU are not afraid to fail!
Now imagine if you didn’t fear failure – what would you actually attempt?
I’d love to hear. Just post in the comments below and share. 😊
