What a perfect weekend to talk about honor.  As we all enjoy through those that sacrificed in service for the establishment of the many freedoms we enjoy here in the US, let us look at another beautiful quality of honor.  As I mentioned in my last email, I believe honor is a lost art in our society today.  It is so rare and yet so powerful that I am attempting through my work and life to bring a renewed awareness of how special it is.

Honor is a missing ingredient that will allow for the exchange and transfer of ideas, important information, and solutions. With it, we can advance even when we disagree. Without it, there is a significant breakdown.

Think about it. Jesus – in his own hometown could do no miracles? WHY? Not because He lacked power, but because in his own hometown, the prophet had no honor. (Mark 6:4-5) That lack of honor toward Him created a block in the hearts and minds of the people so they were unable to receive the spiritual giftings the Creator of the universe was offering. WOW!!!! Right??? That is still mind-blowing to me! How incredibly sad.  The answer and solution were right there and yet the lack of honor created a firewall in their hearts and minds. Talk about self-sabotage!!!

So let me remind you of the first step to creating an ecosystem of solutions where ideas can be freely exchanged by recreating a culture of honor that starts with:

Step 1: Honor Yourself – You were wonderfully made to be an image-bearer of the KING! How have you honored yourself since our last email? (3 days ago)  I would love to hear.  Please hit reply and do share.

Now for Step 2: Honor One Another – Watch what happens when you pay honor to someone else.  Just see if it doesn’t open a door, a line of communication, melt a heart or a wall, and establish a deposit in that relationship. Think about this…even if you do not agree with them, but you show honor – what happens?

It is magical.  Try it.  Try honoring someone you don’t agree with and I’d love to hear what happens there too.  Please reply and let me know. I guarantee your payment of honor will be registered in that person’s relational bank and you will ultimately have more influence with them and at the very least, more peace and good feelings. So never a loss there.  And to those who think showing honor mistakenly means falsely agreeing or flattering, that is not what I mean. You can honorably disagree and if it’s flattery, it is not true honor. When you look at someone, can you find something in them that is genuinely honorable?  It is there no matter what you feel. I dare you to look for it and express it. 😊

So those are our first 2 very necessary steps to building a culture of honor or honor society where we can feel safe to connect and work through disagreements and learn from one another.  How fitting that we should practice it this weekend.

And on that note…  I want to honor you and say thank you for being part of this community whether you just read the emails or you are ALL IN working on your Vision.  Your participation big or small is worthy of honor because it says about you that YOU want to make this world better.  So I salute you this Memorial Day Weekend. I personally thank you.

May you feel honored as you go and honor others.

Happy Memorial Day!
