Have you ever gone to a foreign country and been baffled by the communication going on around you? However, you may have also noticed that after a while of staying there, you begin to recognize certain words and phrases and thus the isolation and frustration begin to subside as you learn to comprehend what is being said.
Connection begins, direction becomes clearer, and peace returns.
Well, that can be similar to learning the language of fear.
We all have things that ignite fear within us. And I keep hearing about “living life without fear” or “if I could only conquer this fear, I would do ___________.”
What if instead of trying to rid ourselves of fear, we accepted that it will be present with us as long as we are wanting to grow, learn and try new things? And do you realize that every single day you are in a new spot in life? You are today in a place you have never been before.
Fear often has to do with the unfamiliar. The amygdala fires off for many reasons. It may be wise to learn the reasons why before reacting to that sensation.
So that is my proposal in this writing.
What if you could learn more about what fear is trying to communicate to you before you decided what to do about it?
If we stay with it (like any foreign language) and become a student of it, we too can begin to recognize certain messages through familiarity and increasing discernment.
And there are communications happening within that emotional vibration that are often missed due to avoidance of the perceived discomfort.
What if you could sit IN your fear without freaking out and just listen…take it apart, discern where it’s coming from and what the message was all about?
What if you weren’t afraid of FEAR?
You know that’s a thing too – fear (just like pain) avoidance – people avoid things that induce fear.
The problem with both is that many communications and lessons are missed. For it is out of our comfort zones that we grow the most.
As I read this morning, “Great acts of faith are seldom born out of calm calculation. But rather at the beginning of every act of faith, there is often a seed of fear.” – Max Lucado
So if you avoid fear, you risk missing out on a lot.
What we are trying to help women with is to not avoid reality (pain or fear) as some have accused us of, with the way we train women but rather to be able to embrace it and learn from it and even see the opportunity within it.
THAT is so much easier when you are coming in with a ‘full cup’ aka living from your strengths, values, passions, and appreciation of your own life experiences.
As a matter of fact, one conversation recently opened up with:
“Maybe all this pain in my life has more to do with depletion than trauma” … Hmmm, now that’s a thought, huh? If you are so weakened by exhaustion, everything will hurt.
But strengthen and fortify yourself, and you will be able to discern and deal with what is really a wound vs. a weakness. What needs critical attention vs. what needs self-care?
But back to fear….are you afraid of being afraid?
We will talk more about that too.
But what if your fear tolerance was lifted?
What if your fear became your friend and even your ally?
What if you knew what those sensations in your body were trying to communicate to you?
Just journal on that for a few minutes.
Consider if you didn’t automatically try to squelch or avoid fear, what would you do differently?
It’s not likely to go away as long as you are alive. So perhaps it is time to make friends with it and learn its language.
We will talk more about this.
If you want to explore how to face and discern and even leverage your fears for more for you, then we are here for you.
All of the women on Team LYV are learning about the great gateways God provides even through fear and pain. God has great plans for you (and your fears). Want to explore more? Set up your complimentary Vision Session.
Both the Success Group and LYV11 Mastermind are open for enrollment and offer training on the language of fear.
Cheers to the great acts of faith prompted by your fear. 😊
