Previously on LYV…😊

Over the next week or two, I would like to invite you to start ‘LYVing’ (pronounced liv-ing). What does that mean? 😊

‘LVVing’ is a specific and elevated way of being and living that produces changed minds, hearts, spirits and circumstances for the better.

As my daughter Natasha says…
“LYV is a specific series of internalized habits that facilitate success. It is letting go of goal chasing and instead becoming the kind of person where your personally defined success is inevitable.” 😳

This time between Christmas and the New Year has become one of my favorite times of year. Typically, things slow down, festivities are lower level for us, and it is a time to take inventory, list, reflect on and celebrate our accomplishments and wins from the past year, and thanking God. Then using the first gift He’s given – the gift of choice, we then create the narrative for the New Year (aka our own personal Living Visions).

What’s that you ask? (Stay tuned…that will be defined in upcoming emails.) But suffice it to say…truly a roadmap for a GREAT YEAR!

This time is very restorative and yet invigorating – a fantastic reset. As some prepare to do a cleanse, or detox, or dry January, we prepare our Living Visions.

After you have concluded…

Part 1: Spend some time reflecting and then list out all your personal wins from 2021.

Part 2: Celebrate YOUR wins – as a culture that believes in the power of celebration to commemorate and fortify, through intentional celebration we highly recommend this not be overlooked.  If we are looking to the bible for our source you will see multiple examples of deliberate and intentional times of celebrations. If you are looking to social science the research also supports this practice.

Whether it was the return of the prodigal son or the wedding at Cana or the 7 feasts described, just to name a few, the bible is replete with pausing to celebrate.

Social science too recognizes that pausing to acknowledge and celebrate wins:

  1. Prolongs happiness – celebration amplifies wins extended the value of it
  2. Builds social resources – create an ‘upward spiral’ in your ecosystem so others may benefit too
  3. Improves results – as we say, you cannot build on success you don’t acknowledge.
  4. Boosts self-esteem – elevates view of self
  5. Makes you healthier – The expression of positive emotions has been found to improve health in a variety of ways, particularly the immune system.

Now in our fast-paced society and competitive, negative and weakness-focused culture (with the digital quick-fix world, the negativity bias of the media, comparison with social media), celebration of what’s going on in our own personal lives tends to be overlooked and most definitely undervalued.

So I invite you to join us for part 2 and celebrate YOUR WINS. Whether you want to do it with a party, or a cup of coffee with a friend or a spa day or a new pair of running shoes in honor of YOU and what God has done…do it!! Celebrate!

Then after you have done Part 1 & 2, you will be amazed at how different you feel and how ready you are for Part 3…Creating your Living Vision. I cannot wait to share more about that.

Happy Celebrating!
