Mistake #3…It’s Not in the Cards for Me

We have been discussing the mistakes women make that stop them from living their visions over the last few days. And I want to bring to your attention ALL of the most common reasons women give me about why they can’t live their visions. I have decided to bring them up one at a time so that we can address them in hopes YOU don’t make this mistake. And if you don’t shine a light on these stumbling blocks, how can you gain enough awareness to avoid falling into those traps. Some of them are so insidious you won’t even recognize them.

And if we don’t have a vision for our lives we are in danger of falling into depression, cynicism, and hopelessness, which may sound trivial to some, but for any that have experienced those, the manifestation of those is not pretty. We do not make good decisions from a depressed state. So I firmly believe what the proverb teaches that:

Without vision, people perish.

In case you missed the first two, here’s a recap….
Mistake #1: It’s only for a select few
Mistake #2: I may have to leave behind those I love

And mistake #3 I hear about from those who have fallen prey to cynicism is: It’s not in the cards for me.

This one especially breaks my heart because this one comes from the mistaken and flawed belief that you don’t have choices and completely dismisses the power contained in the ability to make choices. But it is completely a victim’s mindset. How very sad.

This mistake starts with not realizing and claiming your own power of choice.

If there was ever a woman who could claim this excuse, it is JK Rowling. After escaping from an abusive marriage, as a single mom and living on government support and a few small jobs she could piece together, she went on to actually believe that it was in the cards for her and that she needed to do all she could to get there. So she went on to even write parts of her, now famous, Harry Potter, on a café napkin and continued to write and submit her writings though she was rejected something like 16 times. And the one publisher who finally did take her writings told her “not to give up her day job.” Yet, now we know JK Rowling as one of the most famous authors of our time and the 1st writer to make $1 Billion with her writing in the US. But who would have thought it was “in the cards for her a few years ago? And more importantly, how did she?

Well, I’d be happy to discuss how she did that and how we can deal with those limiting beliefs, insecurities that hold you back.

You’ll be so glad you did.

Because as Mark Twain says….

“10 years from now it’s the things you did NOT do, rather than the things you did that you will regret.”
