Still thinking about it?

Is that one of your favorite ways to put off a decision?  I know it’s one of mine.

Why do you put off decisions?

  1. Fear Of Missing Out  (so don’t want to say ‘no’)
  2. Don’t trust yourself  (so worry when say ‘yes’ )
  3. Even though you are ___ years old, you feel you have to ‘get permission’ first
  4. Have made decisions that didn’t go so well in the past
  5. Don’t want to offend anyone
  6. Don’t have a good decision-making process

You may have heard of ‘decision fatigue’ – well there is something even worse that many suffer with. I call it ‘indecision fatigue’.

Indecision fatigue creates a mental accumulation of thoughts and ideas that you know you need to take action on but put off only to create total overwhelm and eventual shutdown.  As I mentioned in a previous post, being an extra sensitive soul these eventually pile up and contribute to mental duress and then depression & anxiety for me.  So part of my being vigilant about my mindset is having a solid decision-making strategy and executing on it so that things don’t pile up and I remain clear-minded & free of heart.

Those have been my top reasons for saying, “I’m still thinking about it”. But I have had to create a system to move more quickly thru life’s ever-increasing choices that come my way.

What are yours?

I get that you may just legitimately still be thinking about it and many times we do need a good deliberation session.  But what if that has become your go-to excuse and it is that habit that now has you putting off what God has in store for you?

So if you are sick of being weighed down by choices in your life, I invite you to make one small choice right now and to grab the victory in that alone.
