After this past year and traveling across the continent, everything is new.

New scenery…
New climate…
New faces…
New foods…
New roads…
New stores…
New restaurants…
New time zones…
New home…(that we have not even yet seen 😊)

We are awaiting all of our belongings to be delivered and we just found out it will be at least another week. But that is OK. You know when you live out of a suitcase for an extended period of time, you really see how little you need. I have even had this thought…what if our belongings NEVER arrive? Then everything would have to be new there too.

But that is what so many people have to do. Start all over with all new…after a fire, earthquake, some natural disaster, or divorce or some major move of some kind. We get so attached to our homes or things but really what we are attached to are the emotional memories connected with those we love that may have happened there. And I get that.

It has just struck me that though many would think we are crazy moving to a home and a city we have never been to. But after 27 moves, I realize the house and even location matter so very little.  It really is what you do with what you’ve got that matters. Some of the most wonderful times in my life have not been in the most ‘desirable’ homes or locations or even when I haven’t had a home – like right now. So much discovery to be had and as we have discussed a few weeks ago, certainty is the death of discovery.

With so much uncertainty still, can you look at this as a time of discovery for you?

Perhaps you can discover new ways to connect with your children, or learn some new skills, or connect with your neighbors, or maybe become better at technology?

Here’s to discovering something new!
