I know you are probably wondering… “What’s up with all the talk about money? And a series? During the holidays, really?”
Yes, really.
I mentioned in my last post that several months back I had a wake-up call; not a tragic one, but just a gentle nudge.
You know how God often gets our attention…
First, He starts with a whisper (somebody mentions something to you on-topic).
Then you start having a recurring thought (seems like you keep hearing it).
Then it appears in your dreams or sleepless nights (starts interrupting your world).
And then it starts to get bad (issues and real attention-getters occur) until He stops you in your tracks and puts you in time out.
Kind of sounds like Charles Dickens, “Christmas Carol” huh? So maybe this was meant to be a Christmas message after all. 😊
In any case, I decided to not be like Ebeneezer Scrooge and listen and change before the ghost of Christmas Yet to Come visits me with a haunting message.
But the message I keep hearing from women when we talk about investing in themselves is: “I can’t afford it”. And that concerns me. Because when and how do you really think that is going to change if you are not intentional?
Honestly, it’s one of those phrases that just grates on me. It brings up such feelings of powerlessness and defeat.
But I get it.
These facts illustrate why women stay stuck…
- 80% of women at some point in their lives will have to support themselves financially and only 20% say they feel prepared.
- Women still only make .80 to $1.00 that men make.
- Personal finance is NOT taught in most schools.
And the list goes on. (which I will continue to share in this series)
But the Good NEWS is that I will be sharing solutions over the next few weeks…so keep reading.
So if you have heard a whisper or had the recurring thought or maybe even some stirrings in your sleep about the need to improve your own personal and financial worth, then don’t ignore it. It won’t get better. Don’t wait til it comes back to haunt you.
