Continuing on with our holiday series, I have been in awe of the way the 3 wise men or magi or kings (as they are known) studied the ancient scriptures and followed the prophecies tracing the exact time and place of the birth of the Messiah. According to what we know about the story, not only did they take seriously the signs, they took massive action when they traveled incredible distances and gave valuable sacrifices.
I just love this part of the story. There is a majesty and mystery to the humble birth of Christ that brought such extraordinary noble characters into the picture. I liken this to the women who are drawn forward in faith to believe they have something valuable to offer this world. I find the women that I have the great pleasure of working with to be nobles as well – moved by the spirit to give of themselves and offer their treasure to this world.
What struck me most in relation to our current topic “Women & Money” was how the 3 wise men did not blow off the messages that they were getting thru the scriptures, but rather studied them, took them seriously and took action on them. And as a woman today, I believe we need to study the signs, take note of them and take action as well. Signs like…
80% of women will at some point have to care for themselves financially and only 20% say they feel ready.
Women still only make .80 to $1.00 men make
Finances are not taught in school.
Women are the decision-makers for most of the spending in the home.
Women on average make less and therefore women invest 40% less than men and on top of that – women are expected to live longer than men on average.
So unless we start taking action, women will have less to live on for longer than men.
These are the signs I am talking about. These are the messages you need to be aware of and like the magi, take seriously and take action on. I want to urge you to be like the 3 Kings and take note, take seriously and take action on your own personal and financial worth in 2020.
We owe it to our communities and ourselves to become solid with our own finances. And besides, wouldn’t you love to never have to say “I can’t afford it” again!
That’s what I’m talking about. Then you could at least begin to start taking action on the changes needed.
To your personal & financial worth breakthroughs in 2020
